Condenser Microphones

Condenser microphones function by capturing waves in the water, hard materials and air which then translate them into an electrical signal. Condenser microphones are generally in audio use they function through capacitance change to produce a signal from vibrations. Actually when you consider choosing what kind of microphones to buy, there are a lot of things to consider. When it comes to microphones it’s not always about the quality and price, but it also could be about placement and usage.

Aside from condenser phones, another type is the dynamic phones. Dynamic phones are the people’s choice when it comes to microphones they are simple, versatile and sound good on everything from sound instruments to voices. And they are quite cheaper compared to other microphone types. However dynamic phones only pick up sounds from the direction they are pointing. They are great for home use because they can reject background sounds coming from outside. Dynamic microphones have a high sound pressure level which makes them perfect for pointing at loud amplifiers.

On the other hand condenser microphones are mostly used in vocal recordings because they are not that

harsh compared to dynamic microphones. Condenser microphones, like those from Rhode Microphones and Neumann Music, are considerably more expensive compared to dynamic microphones owing to their capability to absorb all kinds of sounds equally from all directions.

An example of a condenser microphone is the Shure KSM44, this is a multi pattern microphone with an extended frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and which also retains the Class A transformer-less head preamp. The KSM44 uses dual-diaphragms to achieve linearity and multi-pattern pickup. Orders for the KSM44 is complete with a locking aluminum carrying case that is heavily filled with cutout foam pockets for shipping safety. The microphone is incased in a maroon, Velveteen pouch for additional protection. But the real protection is the hardened low-carbon steel grille that encases the dual capsules.

The KSM44 has two mounts included, both a simple and hard mount and one of the best elastic suspension mounts in the recording business. These mounts have a single, captive nut at their base which threads into the end of the microphones body. The manufacturer Shure names this design as the ShureLock. The microphones XLR connector of this product can be accessed through the center of its nut. With its shock mount, the microphone body is cradled in a precision-shaped basket suspension system. Once the microphone is placed in the basket, there is no way it can fall out. No matter how it is positioned, even if you turn it upside down. A great feature also is that the microphone can be rotated freely around its vertical axis without the extra hassle to undo the mount. This product rates high in user reviews, although it is a little pricy but the quality is well worth the price, Shure has indeed manufactured a great condenser microphone.
